Action Bronson, Wifisfuneral and More Bid Farewell to Webster Hall in New York

Hip-hop fans will have to find a new space to see their favorite artists perform when famed New York City concert venue Webster Hall closes its doors for renovations. After news broke last month that the storied nightclub would shut down for some time, it was apparent a void would be felt by both rap loyalists and the rappers themselves, many getting a chance to reach their core fan base on its very stages. However, before the doors close, hip-hop bid farewell in a big way.

Last night (Aug. 10), New York's very own Action Bronson and Florida native Wifisfueral performed for a packed house for The End of an Era concert at Webster Hall, which was purchased from the Ballingers Brothers by a joint venture between Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment and AEG Presents. During the event, the energy in the room was insane (there was barely space to move due to the massive crowds) but everyone was there to be a part of the finale concert before renovations began.

Wifisfueral began the night and performed singles off his new Boy Who Cried Wolf mixtape and his most recent album, When Hell Falls. After a brief intermission, around 10 p.m. Action Bronson stormed on the stage and the crowd went nuts. Bronson, who looked like the Hulk in the middle of a rage, ripped his shirt off and threw the microphone in the air while a cloud of marijuana smoke filled the venue.

Bronson ignited the crowd with his new single, "The Chairman's Intent." There was nothing but positive energy in the air as he moved through his set. "I see all kinds of amazing faces tonight," said Bronson while looking around the venue. The former XXL Freshman then performed hits from his previous projects such as his 2016 album, Mr. Wonderful, in addition to Blue Chips 2 and Saaab Stories. "I'm honored to be here. A fucking kid from Flushing. 164," he said to the audience. Queens was definitely in the building.

With Bronson’s upcoming Blue Chips 7000 album dropping later this month, Mr. Baklava performed cuts off the LP such as a song titled "My Right Lung" and another track that sounded like a samba record. He then got into his classics such as "Let Me Breathe," "Actin' Crazy" and his 2015 single, "Baby Blue" sans Chance the Rapper.

One of the highlights of the night was Bronson bringing out his partner-in-crime, fellow Queens native Meyhem Lauren, and Buffalo goons Westside Gunn and Conway. The big body spittas then freestyled onstage to fans' enjoyment.

After performing "Easy Rider," Action Bronson gave his thanks to the crowd and walked off while Tracy Chapman's "Give Me One Reason" blared through the speakers. It was a fitting end to an era that we all love to be a part of.
