It is hard to believe that it has been 20 years since Snoop Doggy Dogg released his classic debut, Doggystyle.  Calvin Broadus might have taken to calling himself Snoop Lion these days but nobody is going forget that the D-O-G-G has enjoyed one of the most iconic careers in all of music.

From his days as an inmate on Death Row Records to starring in television and films, Snoop has been one of the most prominent faces of hip-hop for over the last two decades now. Despite his status as a veteran in the game, Snoop accomplishes more on a day-to-day basis than even the hungriest young rappers in all of hip-hop, proving that Snoop is definitely here to stay.

Snoop Was Literally Named After Snoopy

It is little secret that Calvin Broadus has made several name changes over the years. He started out his career as Snoop Doggy Dogg before shortening to Snoop Dogg a few years later before finally altering it a more a regal-sounding Snoop Lion in 2012.

But did you know where Snoop got his famous nickname? He was given his nickname "Snoopy" by his mother because as a child, Snoop was a huge fan of the Charlie Brown television specials.


Snoop Dogg Discovered Bow Wow

While on tour promoting Dr. Dre's The Chronic in 1993, a six-year old Shad Moss met Snoop Dogg after performing at a show. Impressed by the pint-sized rapper's skills, Snoop took the time to christen Shad as "Lil' Bow Wow" and would later introduce the tiny rapper to producer Jermaine Dupri. This would kick start Bow Wow's career that continues on to this day.

Snoop Is A Big Fan Of British Soap Opera, Coronation Street

Snoop revealed in 2010 that he was a big fan of long-running British sitcom, Coronation Street, while on tour in Manchester, England. He is even expressed a desire to appear on a cameo on the show but as of 2013, Snoop's debut on "Corrie" has not come to fruition.

Snoop Dogg Loves Bollywood Movies

Snoop's love affair with the films of Bollywood stems back to 2008 when he recorded a song for the Indian film Singh is Kinng. During a press conference in Mumbai in January 2013, Snoop Lion expressed a desire to star in a Bollywood film of his own.

"I love Bollywood. I would most definitely want to do something again," Snoop said to reporters.


Snoop's First Job Was At Grocery Store

Before he blew up, Snoop took a job at now-defunct Los Angeles grocery store, Lucky's, where he worked as a grocery bagger. However, Snoop made minimum wage but was quickly fired when he couldn't keep from stealing items from the store.

"I was better at stealing the groceries than I was at bagging them," Snoop has said in the past.


Snoop Went Attended High School With Cameron Diaz

Snoop Dogg and actress Cameron Diaz go way back. The pair attended Long Beach Polytechnic High School where Snoop was in a grade ahead of the Hollywood starlet. In 2011 during a promotional run for Diaz' film Bad Teacher, the actress revealed that she even had purchased weed from Snoop during their high school days.

"I'm pretty sure I bought weed from him," Diaz said of Snoop. "I was green even in high school!"
