After over a decade of playing the sideline, MC Lyte returns with her aptly titled eighth studio album Legend. Can the tenured raptress stay relevant while still staying true to the game? Lyte attempts to do so on her latest LP, her first since 2003's Da Underground Heat Vol. 1.

She has tested the waters with the singles "Ball" featuring Lil Mama and AV and "Dear John" featuring Common and now puts her latest vision on full display with the release of the entire project. Legend features guest appearances from Common, Faith Evans, Lil Mama, Kenny Lattimore and Coko of SWV. As a part of Record Store Day (April 18), the LP will be available in vinyl format for 24 hours only. You can pick up that version of the project, here.

Lyte hopped on the hip-hop scene with her critically acclaimed solo debut Lyte As A Rock in 1988, becoming the first female to put out a full length LP. The Brooklyn MC, who received the I Am Hip Hop award during the 2013 BET Hip-Hop Awards, went on to craft classic hip-hop tracks like "Cha Cha Cha" "Cappucino" and "Poor Georgie" and "Ruffneck." During her album hiatus she became popular for voiceover work for Tide, AT&T, the National Urban League and BET and well as public speaking for different organizations around the globe. She also recently put together the BET reality show Hip-Hop Sisters.
