Young Jeezy Being Sued By Soul Singer Leroy Hutson Over ‘Trap Or Die 2′ Sample
It looks like Young Jeezy is the next rapper to face litigation over a mixtape track. The Atlanta rapper is being sued by soul singer Leroy Hutson over a sample he used for a track on his 2010 mixtape, Trap or Die 2, reports AllHipHop. According to the suit, which was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia on August 27, Hutson is accusing the Snowman of illegally sampling his song "Gettin' It On" for his track "Time." In addition to the song, Jeezy also made a video for the track.
Also named in the suit is producer, and current Def Jam VP of A&R, Don Cannon. Both are accused of copyright infringement and unjust enrichment. According to the report, Hutson is requesting a jury to determine his damages. As previously reported, Mac Miller settled a lawsuit with Lord Finesse earlier this year over a sample he used on the mixtape cut, "Kool Aid & Frozen Pizza."
