Formerly third of Little Brother and North Carolina MC Rapper Big Pooh released his newest EP, Words Paint Pictures, yesterday (March 24).

As his first project released under Mello Music Group, Pooh used the 9-track EP to express his discontent with numerous topics plaguing society as of late. Pooh touches on everything from America's police state to social media activism and apathy all while sampling old school Motown hits for a laid-back vibe. Words Paint Pictures features guest appearances from Ras Kass, Blakk Soul and more and is entirely produced by Apollo Brown.

Pooh chose to work exclusively with Apollo Brown for his latest work because of the in-studio chemistry the two felt early on in production.

"I did two records to Apollo beats and we were performing in New York and I let him hear them, and we just sat and looked at each other. He was like, 'Yo, we gotta knock this EP out'" Pooh told XXL back in February before the record's debut.

Spending more than a decade in the hip-hop world, Pooh is no longer concerned with status symbols or boastful verses. A conscious rap effort, Words Paint Pictures instead tells stories of personal fear, anger and loss and puts the emphasis on a need for change in the Black community.
