In a recent interview with Billboard where the Chicago rapper was profiled as one of 31 female MCs to change the game, Shawnna expressed her desire to see female rappers break the stereotype and start working with each other more.

"At this point in time, in hip-hop, the list goes and on and on with successful male hip-hop artists but you can count the successful female hip-hop artists with one hand," explained Shawnna. "Males don't have a problem working with each other or creating opportunities with and for each other. We have to break the stereotype that women can't do that either. It's a stereotype that's holding us back."
