Today, June 10, is the birthday of Georgia folk rapper and 2015 XXL Freshman Raury. Raury is now 22!

Raury's look doesn't exactly fit the mold of your typical Southern rapper. His signature hat, guitar and sandals peg him more of a farmer than a lyricist, but that hasn't stopped the omni-musical MC from proving people wrong.

In August 2014, Raury released his critically acclaimed free debut album, Indigo Child, a mixture of soulful, mellow tracks and freedom fighter rally cries. Fans say Raury channels Outkast’s Andre 3000 with his eclectic style and bars to match.

From there, Raury signed to Columbia Records, met rap elders like Kanye West, worked with everyone from Gucci Mane and SBTRKT to Lorde and been deemed an MTV Artist to Watch, as well as, an XXL Freshman.

Raury threw a festival in his hometown two years in a row to celebrate his born day, dubbing it Raurfest. In October 2015, Raury dropped off his major label debut LP, All We Need. From the point he dropped his first album, things apparently got a bit complicated.

In January 2018, the Peach State stalwart departed from Columbia Records and his management company, management company, LoveRenaissance. At the time, he implied that the reason he left was because of staff changes to his label.

On April 23, Raury unleashed The Woods, a 22-track effort that marked his first musical project in years. Here's to hoping this opens the floodgates for more new Raury music in 2018.

Happy Birthday, Raury!
