DJ Set Free Brings Hip-Hop To The Fortune 500

XXL Staff
Published: April 11, 2014
A DJ’s sole responsibility back in the day was to be the party starter, playing an integral role in instilling sheer happiness in the lives of many by dishing out a slew of bangers to get the crowd excited. Now, DJ’s are shredding those perceptions and are becoming innovators in the music industry. DJ Set Free has been on the front lines of that movement. The multi-faceted DJ has a become a marketing and branding guru for a bevy of top flight companies ranging from Adidas, Nike, And-1, Slam Magazine, EA Sports, Heineken, and more.

His ability to cultivate ideas by incorporating strands of hip-hop to Fortune 500 companies has earned him respect among his peers, while his stout resume continues to grow increasingly with each project he’s given. Set Free spoke with XXL on his transition from DJ to marketing wiz, his start with And1, working with Young Guru and DJ Enuff on his Heineken campaign and how aspiring DJ’s can become more versatile in their crafts. Let's get it started. —Carl Lamarre
