Azealia Banks Out of Line for Insulting T.I., Lil Kim: Poll Results

Insulting fellow femcees—like Iggy Azalea and Kreayshawn—in her relative age group is one thing.

But people really did seem to take offense to Azealia Banks blasting rap veterans like T.I. and most recently Lil Kim on Twitter.

When XXL posed the question to fans, ‘Is Azealia Banks out of line for blasting rap veterans like Lil Kim and T.I. on Twitter?’ on Monday (May 7), a resounding 68% responded, ‘Yes, she should show more respect and not handle matters this way.’

Thirty-two percent responded, ‘No, she’s young and entitled to her own opinion.’

The Queen Bee was the last known rapper that the Harlem rhymeslinger chose to air out via Twitter.

“Okay so true tea is that Lil Kim got mad that I wrote a verse for her on a record I wanted her on,” Banks tweeted out on Sunday (May 6). “Everyone knows Lil Kim doesn’t write her own raps and I saw this as a faster more efficient way of getting the track done. She then had her assistant write me some long ass offensive email about how Lil Kim writes her own raps and doesn’t need anyone’s help.

“So….. My question was and is still… IS SHE DOING THE TRACK?” the feisty Banks continued. “Who cares about what you use to do…. WILL YOU DO THE TRACK??! All this extra sh-t is stupid. Keep closing your own doors ma. @lilkim. There is no beef. At all.”

Banks’ debut single, “212,” was released last December to solid fanfare.—XXL Staff

I guess it’s only OK for male rappers to have feuds.

  • Dennis Ricketts

XXL clearly has their own opinion of the matter, as evidenced by the biased wording of the poll.

  • kamal

XXL has to kiss T.I.’s ass to make sure he keeps doing interviews with them. He’s one of only like 20 rappers out that they can put on the cover and sell magazines.

Iggy was also a Freshman pick so they have to take her side… they’re afraid that Azaelia Banks is making them look bad by criticizing one of their choices.

All national music magazines are consumed by industry politics, but I gotta say… XXL is much worse than most.

all you chicks are taking offence to this but think about it this way, this azalea iggy or banks or whatever is a nobody. straight up. and shes talking shit to successful rappers, thats why nobody respects her. she thinks she can cock off anybody she wants for no reason, AND OVER TWITTER. i can almost guarantee shes goin nowhere by beefing with everybody when she hasn’t even put out a decent track yet.
