Each year brings some unexpected surprises in hip-hop. Whether it's a new artist emerging out of nowhere or an unlikely single blowing up like no one could imagine, hip-hop always finds a way to bring about some fascinating developments. With that in mind, XXL reached out to our readers to see what artists they'd like to see collaborate in 2017. Our readers provided a couple unlikely combinations along with the hope of a few big reunions.

When it comes to hip-hop collaborations, a few fans had pretty ambitious ideas. Young Thug and J. Cole don't seem like they would mesh on paper, but that did not stop the pairing from coming up in the conversation. Although it is hard to imagine these two working together, stranger things have happened. The southern connection could produce something that turns out to sound great.

One thing fans always want to see are reunions. People have been begging OutKast to record a new album for years, but the duo has not reconvened for anything except some live shows. Still, one reader hopes it will change in 2017. Last year brought fans the shocking return of A Tribe Called Quest, so never say never.

Many of the picks were collaborations that have a strong chance of becoming a reality. Kodak Black and 21 Savage; Curren$y and 2 Chainz; Tory Lanez and Post Malone; Mick Jenkins and EarthGang; and Lil Yachty and Ugly God could easily happen over the course of the year. Check out all of the fans' picks in the above gallery.
