Back in April, Nelly was arrested in Tennessee for federal drug charges stemming from a tour bus search that yielded evidence of marijuana and methamphetamine. Earlier this week though, it was reported that the substance believed to be meth was in fact not, resulting in the felony charges to be dropped to misdemeanors. And now, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports, Nelly has officially released a statement on the charge, saying “I would like to thank my attorney Scott Rosenblum and the people of Tennessee for a very fair outcome.”

Nelly is in the course of serving a year's probation in connection to the two misdemeanor pleas. His attorney offered the following comment, “We were confident from the onset of the charges that Nelly would be cleared and we are pleased with the outcome of dismissed charges. It was stated in open court that there was never any methamphetamines on his bus and absolutely no evidence present to pursue felony charges against Rap Super Star- Nelly. As for the misdemeanor consumption charge, Nelly took a diversion which means his record will be cleared of any misdemeanor charges.”

Nelly had announced earlier in the year that he was opting to go the independent rout with his music but hasn't made much noise on that front since. With the Tennessee charges all but behind him, he should be able to pursue the creative outlet more freely.
