Talib Kweli gave his Instagram followers an account of racism he encountered recently during a trip to Denmark.

While the Black Star member was in Copenhagen, Denmark for a show during the Thanksgiving holiday, he was attacked by two "bigots" while visiting the Christiana neighborhood. In his Instagram post, Kweli explained that Christiana was one of his favorite places in the world until this incident. The rapper went into detail about the ugly episode.

"I've been hearing about Danish racism on the rise," Kweli wrote. "I witnessed it firsthand. I was attacked by two bigots last night saying they 'hate me' and they didn't even know who I was, they just didn't like the color of my skin. It wasn't an Internet attack, it was physical. I was hit and kicked."

NIKO IS, an artist signed to Kweli's Javotti Media, helped him escape the attack. Kweli was able to perform that night and had a successful show. The Brooklyn, N.Y. native thanked his Danish fans for helping him get through a tough time.

"Even [though] I will never see Christiania the same, a place I once wrote about for a travel blog as utopian, I will always love my fans in Denmark," Kweli said. "Your love last night [Nov. 26], especially while I was away from family during holiday, only made me stronger."
