With his long-awaited debut album finally on the horizon--Free TC should finally, finally hit shelves Nov. 13--one would think Ty Dolla Sign would finally take time to exhale. Of course, he isn't. The Los Angeles singer and producer has apparently amassed enough material while working on the retail debut that he's ready to drop a mixtape on ironically short notice. Airplane Mode will hit the Internet tomorrow (Oct. 13), and Ty today shares the title track, produced by himself, EAZY and Nate 3D of D.R.U.G.S., the production collective he helped found (and the crew that's manning the boards for Iggy Azalea's sophomore effort.)

In addition to making some of the decade's most durable and reliable R&B, the 2014 XXL Freshman continues to fight for his brother's freedom. Free TC is named for Ty's younger brother, who is currently serving time a for a murder both brothers say he didn't commit. Ty has been vocal about his plans: to make a record so big, he can use the proceeds to get TC a top-flight lawyer, and hopefully mount a successful appeal. Long looked to within the industry as a go-to writer and producer, Ty has worked with most of rap and R&B's heavy hitters at one point or another. Most interestingly in 2015, he's been credited on some of the songs that Paul McCartney and Kanye West made for the latter's forthcoming seventh solo album.
