Ty Dolla Sign Compares Kanye West to Michael Jackson

All week people have been buzzing about Kanye West's Yeezy Season 2 collection with adidas, which he officially unveiled during his Fashion Week show yesterday in Manhattan. And just as he did for his first show back in February—when he debuted his song "Wolves" featuring Vic Mensa and Sia—'Ye took the opportunity to unveil a brand new song for the people along with his collection. The track, called "Fade," features up-and-comer Post Malone as well as Ty Dolla $ign, who has collaborated with Yeezy on "Only One" and Rihanna's "FourFiveSeconds" already this year.

For Ty, who's prepping the release of his long-awaited debut album Free TC on Atlantic Records, due out Nov. 13, the song came together easily. "It was magical, brother," he said during a stop through the XXL offices. "We just had one of those top hats, whipped it around and a big-ass rabbit came out that muthafucka."

On a more serious note, though, the 2014 XXL Freshman spoke about what it's like to work with the GOOD Music chief. "Being in the studio with him is like, shit, like being in the studio with fuckin' Michael Jackson," he said. "It was a blessing. I can't even believe that it happened to be real with you. My life is just constant unbelievable shit and you better believe it, you know?"

With Ty's new album due out in just seven weeks, he's already released three singles: "Blasé" featuring Rae Sremmurd and Future; "Only Right" featuring YG, Joe Moses and TeeCee; and his latest, "When I See Ya" featuring 2015 XXL Freshman Fetty Wap. For Ty, the album is about making quality music, but he's also got another reason why he wants it to be successful.

"It's more than just good music, it's a movement, you know?" he said about Free TC, named after his brother who is currently incarcerated. "My brother's locked up right now in California for something that he didn't do. I feel like we all know somebody that's been [done an] injustice in some form or fashion, whether it be by the police or the judge or the punk-ass bouncer in front of the club that just misuses their authority, you feel me? So we're just raising awareness to the whole racial injustice shit, especially. And taking the money from my project, putting it back into my brother's case, setting an example and changing the world." —Dan Rys
