Yesterday was supposed to be a day of remembrance and reflection. However, violence erupted in Ferguson and the peaceful protests quickly turned ugly. According to The New York Times, St. Louis County police officers opened fire and critically injured a man who fired shots at them. Reports say that rival groups began firing shots at one another, one of whom the injured man belongs to. The victim was identified as 18-year-old Tyrone Harris Jr. and was a close friend of Mike Brown, according to the RT network. Chief Jon Belmar of the St. Louis County Police Department said Harris began to flee the scene, after which officers started to chase him in an unmarked car. The man began to fire shots at the officers, who returned the fire, leaving him injured. Police recovered a 9-millimeter Sig Sauer from the shooting victim that was reported stolen last year, said the authorities. The race of the four detectives who had shot Harris were not disclosed but Chief Belmar said they all had from six to 12 years of experience in the police force.
