Bobby Shmurda has pled not guilty to all charges today in his first hearing since being arrested Dec. 17. The 20-year-old Brooklyn MC had been indicted along with Rowdy Rebel and 13 members of their GS9 crew on 69 charges ranging from drug distribution to conspiracy to commit murder. All pled not guilty in Manhattan Supreme Court in hearings today that lasted three and a half hours.

Rowdy Rebel, who is also signed with Epic Records alongside Shmurda, pled not guilty earlier this morning, with his lawyer calling his $2 million bail "excessive." Rebel was charged with conspiracy, attempted murder, attempted assault, reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon in the indictment (all charges can be found here). Brian “Meeshie” Harvey, Rashid “Rasha” Derissant, Deshain “Mitch” Cockett, Alex “A-Rod” Crandon, Javase "Fame" Pollard (Shmurda's brother), Santino “Cueno” Boderick, Nicolas "Montana Flea" McCoy, Devon "Slice" Rodney and Remy "Fetti" Marshall also pled not guilty. The State said that Cueno is "the principal figure in most of these shootings."

The next court date for the crew has been set for April 22. Reps from Epic Records declined to comment on the hearings.

At least 50 people have filled the court room in Lower Manhattan for today's hearings, with lawyers, police officers, family members, reporters and execs from Epic Records, which signed Shmurda and Rebel to record deals last year, in attendance. One by one throughout the morning and early afternoon each defendant has sat before Judge James Burke and pled not guilty, with defense lawyers repeatedly petitioning the judge for reduced bail. Rasha and A-Rod, both facing second degree murder charges, have been denied bail; the judge has refused to reduce bail for all other defendants until he delivers his decisions Apr. 22.

Shmurda's bail, also set at $2 million, came under scrutiny by his new attorney, Kenneth Montgomery, who took over from Howard Greenberg after the initial indictment. Montgomery called the bail "extremely unfair" in court today, questioning the prosecution's position that Shmurda was a leader of the alleged operation. "There's nothing about a hierarchy about this alleged gang," he said of the indictment.

Bobby Shmurda and his GS9 crew were indicted by the NYPD and the Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor Dec. 18, after being arrested outside Quad Studios in Manhattan the night before. The crew were initially charged with conspiracy, but in a press conference police commissioner Bill Bratton and prosecutor Bridget Brennan, alongside Brooklyn District Attorney Kenneth Thompson, detailed the extent of the incidents as well as the charges against each member of Shmurda’s GS9. The indictment included 69 charges including murder, attempted murder, assault, attempted assault, weapons possession, criminal use of a firearm, reckless endangerment, narcotics sales and criminally using drug paraphernalia.

As previously reported, Bobby Shmurda will still face his Brooklyn gun case in court. The charge was technically dismissed by the Brooklyn D.A.'s office because it’s a procedural step in order to have the charge included in the much larger Special Narcotics’ case. That Brooklyn gun charge is not his alleged shooting into a crowd outside a Brooklyn barbershop in June 2014. The correct Brooklyn gun charge is an arrest made by the police where they found a gun on the Flatbush MC after obtaining a search warrant in June 2014, which was around the same time of the shooting. Additionally, the lawyer that was be representing Bobby in court will not be Howard Greenberg. The rapper will be defended by Kenneth J. Montgomery, Esq. of KJM PLLC.

Shmurda and his GS9 crew were arrested in December and charged with nearly 70 crimes, including murder, conspiracy and gun possession. Shmurda's bail is $2 million. If convicted, Shmurda could face 25 years in jail. Fans got to hear the Epic signee for the first time since his arrest in the beginning of “Computers (remix)” by Migos, a cut off the Shmigo Gang tape. Listen to the song and you will hear a recording of the “Hot Nigga” rapper behind bars. Emmanuel C.M. and Dan Rys
