Azealia Banks Calls Kendrick Lamar’s Ferguson Comments “The Dumbest Sh-t I’ve Ever Heard”
No one would dare call Azealia Banks shy. The rapper, whose Broke With Expensive Taste was finally released late last year, has spent the last several months embroiled in feuds with other artists, often centered on the roles of race and gender in music and culture. Now, the New Yorker is taking issue with Kendrick Lamar. In a recent interview with Billboard, the Compton rapper had this to say about Michael Brown's August murder at the hands of a white police officer:
"What happened to [Michael Brown] should've never happened. Never. But when we don't have respect for ourselves, how do we expect them to respect us? It starts from within. Don't start with just a rally, don't start from looting -- it starts from within."
Kendrick's in-his-own-words XXL cover story is on newsstands now.
