Top Dawg Ent Dropping Albums From Entire Roster In 2014?

As we noted in our Oct/November issue, Top Dawg Ent. had 2013 in the cobra clutch. Despite no one in the roster dropping an album, Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, ScHoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, SZA and Isaiah Rashad put out enough banging singles, blazed enough features, killed enough stages and caused enough of a stir in hip-hop to have a buzz that majors would kill for. Though 2013 didn’t offer any LP’s from the Cali imprint, according to label CEO Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, 2014 is going to be a totally different story. Early this morning, Tiffith took to Twitter to announce that the label will drop six albums next year from their six person roster. “We ran 2013 without dropping 1 album,” he typed. “I wonder wuts gone happen in 2014 when I drop 6. They not ready 4 this.”

ScHoolboy Q’s forthcoming album, Oxymoron is slated to drop in February. Kendrick Lamar is currently working on the follow up to his 2012 platinum selling album, Good Kid M.A.A.D. City. Are y’all ready?

TDE is dope but wish they wouldn’t wear tight ass skinny jeans like all the wack “swag” rappers do… They’re better than all of them and their music shows it.

    • bodiddlywiddly

Haha fuck outta here with that, soul and jay rock never wear skinny jeans. And what does pant size have to do with shit?

    • jordan

exaclty, there music shows it so it doesnt matter what they wear because they make good music

First of all the skinny jean fashion started in L.A. they’re just reppin local culture. No one outside L.A. wore that until Cali Swag District came out with the Dougie.

Doesnt really make sense to drop all of them in one year. I dont see that happening at all unless it’s an official TDE compilation which makes way more sense than individually dropping 6 them. Plus that would just be way too quick for their star artist (KL) to be dropping another album. SZA’s buzz is not where is should be imo and isiah gotta drop more joints to get more awareness so a comp is most likely. And I def wish he would stop with the twitter teases. Looking forward to whatever drops tho. But also if a couple of them releases are EP’s then I can see it as a possibility. Whew!!!!!!!

How is that quick? GKMC came out in 2012, that’s about the right time to drop another album.

Just seems like all of this dropping an album every year/year and a half stuff is forced. Especially when your making appearances everywhere or dropping mixtapes. You wear yourself out and the material starts to dwindle in quality. Or ppl get tired of hearing you. My personal opinion. But if it’s dope then so be it. I’ll def cop.

You mean Kendrick ran 2013. No disrespect to the rest of TDE, all of them are dope and all deserved way more attention this past year. But Kendrick was the one making all the noise as far as people talking goes. I’m sure that will change when the rest of their albums drop, they’ve got a lot more eyes on them now
