Never heard of this Logic guy but he went hard af

    • Luke The Director

He is literally the best lyrical genius in the game. Check outhis youtube channel and scope his 3 mixtapes

      • rhymeforever

He’s certainly not a “lyrical genius”. Reserve those words for someone like Nas.

        • Fernando Ortega

Yea Get off Nas’s Is Nuts bro…

          • rhymeforever

What? Is complimenting any rapper being “on his nuts”? Get your head out of your ass.

He’s the best rapper on the Freshmen list this year

          • rhymeforever

I can’t say I share your opinion, especially with half of TDE, Joey Bada$$, Dizzy, and Bronson on there. But to each there own.

          • Verbose

Logic isnt a lyrical genius? You must skim through music. The guy is def a lyricist. Way more than any other on this list. Who you think is the best is your personal preference, but saying hes not a lyrical genius is retarded

          • elo

            logic blows

          • Verbose

          • Tha Twistah

I respect your opinion but I have to say Dizzy is a lot better.

        • Shabby

Nas a lyrical genius? If you understood the words he spit, you’ll soon realise he’s not that much of a lyrical genius neither is Logic. Only non-intelligent people who don’t understand the words. think they’re lyrical.

          • classicrhymes

“Non-intelligent” isn’t a word, though. So, I presume that you can’t comprehend and interpret Nas’ lyricism either. Logic has stated Nas as a major influence, and you can see that within his music. To each their own, but do you realize who you’re criticizing? You’re criticizing a hip hop legend and pioneer, who authors have written books about. He wasn’t bestowed that respect overnight; he earned it. If you’re inane enough to assert that Nas isn’t lyrically gifted and superior to any, if not everyone, in the rap game, you’re deaf or just a senseless hater. I give credit where it’s due, and Nas is a legend. Go listen to his albums and really sit down and dissect his lyrics. They may seem superficially simple, but they’re actually complex and confounding nonetheless… “It’s only right that I was born to use mics / and the stuff that I write is even tougher than dice / I’m taking rappers to a new plateau, through rap slow / My rhymin’ is a vitamin, held without a capsule” – Nas

          • DeRoy

Nonintelligent, isn’t a word. Hence why he said Non-intelligent, the correct usage of a term meaning someone whom lacks intelligence. Don’t try and be an asshole.

          • classicrhymes

With or without the hyphen, it’s the same word regardless, dummy. Hyphens are pretty much rendered redundant nowadays. That word is more of a misnomer, actually. Unintelligent is the official, proper word.

          • http://www.facebook.com/miguel.collado.77 Miguel Collado

SO PLEASE tell me who’s a “lyrical genius” in your eyes? (Exclude the irrelevant and ignorant typical answers)

          • Verbose

Youre not a lyricist based on how well people understand something. It doesnt even have to be difficult to understand. It just has to be creative and intelligent and original. Logics lines are all of that. He can have a party song and make it extremely lyrical. If a lyricist were someone we couldnt understand then Gucci Mane and Chief Keef would be the greatest lyricists of all time.

        • http://twitter.com/ThisGreatAngel Darian The Barbarian

Listen to his song Dead Presidents 3 and you will see his true lyrical ability

        • Jalen

Nas even said he was good i think we can call him a lyrical genius

      • Kid ish

        ot a lyrical genius yet

      • Kid ish

    • rhymeforever

He’s pretty good, but there was some serious repetition of several words (manipulation being one) that detracted from it overall. Not tryna hate, I liked him too and will definitely check out some of his mixtapes.

      • http://www.facebook.com/ObeyChristian123 Chris Gomez

He said manipulation 3 times how many times do you hear a black rapper say nigga? or homie?

        • http://www.facebook.com/miguel.collado.77 Miguel Collado

Okay but nigga is way different than manipulation in context you can’t compare that. Dumbass. “Black rapper”.

Logic sick with that magneto line. Drizzy never heard of him but he seems pretty generic, still good tho. Angel, well all I remember from her part was bitches. She also used stitches to rhyme with it, didnt see that coming.

Logic’s mixtapes and future records are what I am very excited for. We should all be.

This was the best cypher, They all went in but dizzy did the best.

  • http://twitter.com/girl_w_noname blvck madonna.

this cypher had the most energy and imo, the most talent….the other 2 cyphers were superrrrr dry…i just finished em’ to finish em’. this batch had high energy, nice flows and pretty good content. all 3 did their thing in their own way. with that being said, i hope xxl really blows me away next year with the 2014 cover because this one was almost right…but you can see which label had their dick up XXL’s ass in broad daylight. this year they should really pay attention to talent and not just round up people that got signed and had a few hot singles. i’d rather be like “who the fuck are any of these niggas?” and actually have some real listening to do than just recognize a few faces for the sake of industry buzz and gossip.

  • http://twitter.com/colinj10 colin j

I love Logic, but Dizzy just ripped it.
These three slaughtering the whole Freshman Class.

I feel Travi$ Scott had the best cypher. Angel Haze had some punchlines for sure

I just wanted to hear Dizzy , Angel , and Joey but that kid Logic definitely go ! Angel Haze soooo freakin’ dope ! Dizzy is my all time favorite rapper , Joey is sick with his wordplay , and Logic is pure lyrical assassination. Just sharing my opinion but imagine they all got on a track together !

Dizzy Wright>Logic>Angel Haze… all 3 of them killed it though. Angel Haze was real dope. Logic was dope as always. a bit of repetition with the mentioning of Jordan/the King, Dizzy told a dope story all in the freestyle… real impressed with all 3 of em

Dizzy reppin that vegas flow straightup, killin it…my boy logic unimpressive coppin an ancient track for this bullshit i woulda liked to see more effort, still straight up phenominal delivery..idk why they put that ugly bitch in but i mean she went in so fuck it props to episode 3

  • James Taylor

Maybe it was just me, but it seemed that Dizzy was quietly very dominant. I still think that Logic killed it and was the best, but Dizzy didn’t seem too far behind. I still would’ve liked someone like Q or Joey Bad in this group. Anyway, I will be watching all three of these rappers very closely.

  • Simply_Connected

These cyphers are dope as usual but seem watered down compared to previous years

  • http://www.facebook.com/matt.d.rio Matt del Rio

  • TsarToNk

I admit, when I first saw the Freshman lineup. . .I was heated! I thought Logic was gonna be a Riff Raff type rapper! BOY WAS I WRONG! Logic, Joey, Ab, School, Dizzy, & Angel are all some of my new favs! Trinidad is also on my list, but he is just my hypeman lol. . .WOOOOOOW, this class is pretty good, except Travis & Bronson overrated asses! But Joey & Logic need to collab. . .Can’t Trust Em Remix & Maintain are some of my current favs already though! But yeah. . .

  • classicrhymes

I’m a huge fan of this cypher. I’m not really fond of ranking artists with regard to superiority, especially with a trio like this one, so I’m not gonna do that. Dizzy, Logic, and Angel brought something different to the table, respectively, as they always do – they have their individual styles, and I really like that about them. Dizzy killed it with a solid verse. Do I even have to give my opinion on Logic? The kid is ridiculously talented, and if you think otherwise, you’re deaf. His punchlines, lyricism, and flow are incredible. He’s well on his way to perfecting the craft, tbh. Despite all of the criticism and hate Angel gets, she’s actually extremely talented, and I give credit where it’s due. I have a lot of knowledge of her music, being that I’ve been a fan for years, way before she attained a record deal. She used “bitch” excessively here, but only towards the end of her verse, so it wasn’t a big deal to me. The dope thing about Angel, though, is her attitude and the way she projects it in her flow. She’s a female, which is why a lot of dudes hate, but she has BARS. Do ALL of your homework before criticizing.

  • http://www.facebook.com/steven.c.ferro Steven Cubiche Ferro

dizzy best verse hands down, killed it, logic had war vet verse which it doesnt count…and idc about angel haze..she’s wack to me…

Dizzy Trashed everyone all i can say is he spits real shit !!!!

    • A$APChucky11

But everyone else went in too though !!!!

  • jaysonmanman

    Best cypher so far!!!

  • Kristijonas

Wasn’t a fan of any of the verses. At least Dizzy brought some content with his lyrics. Logic threw out some worthless punchlines about being “a G” and Angel Haze was barely gasping through her rhyming of “bitch” with “bitch.” Huge disappointment.

Angel Haze is fye af but she keeps recycling verses. Could’ve at least used some shit off of King or Her first Tape

  • PhillyBluntz420

    Dizzy went HARD!!!

  • Andrew

No rapper should be considered a lyrical genius due to the fact that each individual’s content neither has substance dynamism. Rap is projected towards the consumer’s auditory processes. Individual’s contain bias tendencies and do not comprehend the variance and objectivity .For instance, Imagine an artist states a simple ” Im hot and your not, I’ll put you in a boiling pot.” I’m sure we can all comprehend that there is nothing complex or dynamic in the statement provided. But lets contrast biast tendencies prevalent in the music industry. If the artist future had said this people would be say he is the worst rapper alive and so dumb and has the i.Q. of a rock. But if Eminem had generated this statement people would be saying its the best rapper alive and the greatest ever. The sad thing is If mentally handicapped person and a logic said the exact same thing in a rap song people would chose logic over the mentally handicapped person and say he is more lyrical when in fact, they are making the same statement. Individual’s select and label rappers based upon what they hear and not content. Concluding, I will say it again. IT’S ALL ABOUT THE AUDITORY PROCESS AND NOT SUBSTANCE OR CONTENT.

    • TJChan01

Then explain Capital Steeze. He was a lyrical genius, and im not basing that off of my own subjective views. Steeze literally had lyrical content in his rhymes. He was conveying messages while STILL playing with the words he used to relay them. For you to say that no rapper should not be considered a lyrical genius is a very dumb remark. Have you ever picked up a mic? Spit a verse? Been in the game? If not then those words should never even leave your mind. If a mentally handicapped person spit the same lines as Joey Badass or the late Steeze, then in turn that person would become a national treasure in the art of rhyming. Your point is flawed and broken sir. You based it all off of the “auditory process” but it is, at the base, a mental process that allows you to understand the shit they say.

      • Andrew

How can you say Capital Steez is an artist that is in possession of the title of a lyrical genius .You associated the message projected to an audience with lyrical complexity those are two completely different things. Of course message and substance is an imperative proponent to have in a song. But I was specifically referencing the complexity aspect of rap. This is coming from a kid who has sat in with multiple artist’s writing processes and recording sessions.Word play is only a small portion of song generation. An artist that contains much more complexity and dynamics than the artist that you referenced would be Odd Thomas and propaganda. Look up truth wars- Odd Thomas. Now that is is complexity and a objective messages without contradictions.

  • verbalyricist

Logic is the next big thing. If you wanna hear some just dope shit he does and some shit he kills listen too ‘Roll Call’ ‘Nasty’ all three Young Sinatra songs (he gets better as he progresses) and then you’ll just download all his mix-tapes lol. But he’s quite the lyricist I would go out on a limb and say he will EVENTUALLY be as good as Nas.
