Chris Brown may have seemed like a peculiar guest for the politically and socially charged The Daily Show, which would explain why the staff was divided when he was booked, and why Brown was eventually bumped for Chi-Raq star Nick Cannon. Trevor Noah had just interviewed the film's director Spike Lee the previous night, and the show posted on Instagram yesterday before going on-air that Cannon would guest. Zero mention of Brown or the swap was made. An Comedy Central rep told to the Washington Post  that all bookings are subject to change and “the show hopes to reschedule Chris for a future appearance.” Brown would have presumably plugged his upcoming album, Royalty, which drops  later this month. The singer had released a 34-track mixtape around Thanksgiving as a prelude. "While many staffers disapprove of the booking decision, host Trevor Noah allegedly hopes to use the interview to bring light to domestic abuse issues," the Daily Beast reports.

"The Daily Show" drop comes at the same time as news that Brown has cancelled his upcoming tour dates in New Zealand and Australia. He had already been denied a Visa into Australia, with the country citing his 2009 felony assault conviction. Brown had appealed the denial, and took to Twitter to make his case for entry, but apparently has decided it easier to scrap that leg of his One Hell Of A Night Tour.
