Dominique is an artist based out of the greater Houston area, and her unique brand of soulful pop fused with RnB has earned her features in nearly every major publication in the greater hip-hop world (including Vibe Vixen). Now, she's poised for a crossover...and a takeover. This week's Web Candy talks about her musical inspirations, her love for The Houston Rockets, and her new EP, Wicked Heart.

Tell us about yourself. Who are you? What do you do?

My name is Love Dominique and I am an RnB singer from Houston, TX.

You're probably best known as a singer-songwriter. What is your biggest inspiration for your music?

My music is inspired by my life and the stories I see around me. I write mainly about the ups and downs of relationships but I definitely enjoy a good party song. My girls always know that they run the risk of being a song topic. My latest EP Wicked Heart is my sexy take on those crazy things we do for the wrong relationship.

Your beauty is only matched by your talent—in other words, you're a triple threat. Is there any one aspect of the entertainment industry that you prefer over others? Why?

My first love is music so performing would of course be my first choice, but as I grow in the industry, I'm beginning to love acting and modeling as well.

What do you like to do when you're not performing?

I love to watch comedy movies and I'm a huge basketball fan. The Houston Rockets are my team, so no matter what city I'm in, I try to rock my "Fear The Beard" t-shirt to support them.

What would you say was your biggest challenge to overcome, and how did you overcome it?

The fear of hearing no... in this business, you have to have thick skin and be prepared that everyone won't support your dream or what you're trying to accomplish. So I just make sure that I 100% believe in everything that I do or put out there, so I can stand behind my work no matter who sees the vision. I'm super excited since I'm talking to XXL right now, so I think I'm on the right path.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

I see myself promoting the Love Dominique brand, touring to support an album, writing for other artists and getting into promoting my own beauty products. My supporters always ask me about my different red lips so maybe MAC will see that and give me my own shade.

If there's one piece of advice you could give to young women who are looking up to you, what would it be?

Work hard and always follow your dreams, no matter how far-fetched others may think they are. I feel as though a lot of people give up when things get hard, and my advice is to ride that tough time through to your success.
