Fred Da Godson got his revenge and fans love hearing about it. On his new single, “Monique’s Room,” the Bronx native weaves a story of revenge after he catches his girlfriend cheating.

While the hook of “I don’t, give a fuck about you anymore” has won over the fans and DJs, it’s Fred’s trademark punchlines that keep the crowd captivated.

“I can’t stand you/I was the man who planned to cuff it up/ But you had dicks on the ceiling, you fucked it up,” he raps on one part.

This past weekend at Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, Fred, fresh from performing at the Summer Jam Festival, spoke on his surprising surge.

“Um, it’s just a everyday thing,” he reflected on the song. “My man was going through it. I wasn’t going through it personally. It’s been going on for years. It’s just a song we put together. I didn’t know it was gonna catch fire like that.”

“Monique’s Room” is off of Fred’s Gangsta Grillz mixtape, City of God, which dropped a few months back. Since then, he’s been working on his debut LP and yet another street offering.

“When I be recording, we come across special songs,” he said. “We put that in a vault for the album. But the new mixtape is Gordo Federico in three weeks. It’s crazy. Ya’ll gonna love it. If you loved City of God, you gonna love this one.”

As for Summer Jam, Fred said he’s looking forward to tearing down the mainstage in the future, but loved his experience as a show opener at the Festival.

“I did the festival, tore it down,” the former XXL Freshman said. “This is my first Summer J. There’s nothing like home. It was big, it was a good experience. The rain ain’t stop nothing.”—Shaheem Reid
