Wiz Khalifa, along with his family and friends, were in the City Council chambers yesterday to accept a proclamation that December 12, 2012, will be Wiz Khalifa Day, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

As the new ambassador for his hometown, Wiz was excited to accept the honor for his accomplishments.

"It means a lot to me, being a kid from Pittsburgh and riding the buses and going to school out here and just loving Pittsburgh so much," he said. "Even when I moved here when I was younger, I told people I was from Pittsburgh, and that was it. So, to come so far, and represent, and have everybody be proud of me -- I don't even feel like I'm doing that great. I can do better and better.”

Councilman Bill Peduto, who presented the proclamation thanks to a request by Wiz’s grandfather, believed that the rapper promotes his pride of the city through his music. He was recognized for his ability to touch millions of fans every day.— Eric Diep
