Nicki Minaj Cancels U.K. Fest Appearance Due to Strained Vocal Cords

Last weekend, it was reported that Nicki Minaj had no choice, but to cancel her scheduled performance at the U.K.’s V festival, due to a diagnosis, which revealed her strained vocal conditions. The Queens rapper whose performance at the last Hot 97’s Summer Jam was cancelled by her label boss Lil Wayne (due to radio host Peter Rosenberg’s disapproving statement about Minaj’s pop single “Starships”) had performed a set for her fans at New York’s Roseland Ballroom on August 14th. And according to MTV News, it was this performance that worsened her vocal cords.

The V Festival, which wrapped up last night (Sunday, August 19th) in Essex, England, featured notable guests including David Guetta, the Killers, and LMFAO.

While Minaj has stated how she feels regretful for not being able to perform for her fans, she fully defended herself when fans openly made discerning remarks about her missed performance tweeting: “I was in jeopardy of losing my voice entirely and needing surgery on my vocal chord. If u can’t understand that, your mother’s a WHORE!!!!”

According to MTV News, medical experts believe Minaj will need several more days of rest for her to fully recover her voice.
