Big Sean Salutes J. Cole at North Carolina Show

Big Sean took over North Carolina last night (October 4) as part of his I Am Finally Famous tour.

The Def Jam artist performed in front of a completely packed Greene Street Club audience in Greensboro, NC, the second stop of his first solo headlining tour. With a line wrapped around the building most of the night, fans kept filing in throughout the show.

Upcoming West Coast rapper Shawn Chrystopher opened with a few new cuts off his Silent Films for the Blind mixtape before handing the mic over to G.O.O.D. Music rapper CyHi the Prynce.

The Decatur, GA native got into his most recent release, Royal Flush 2, shouting out his ’11 XXL Freshman classmate Yelawolf before hyping up the crowd with “Bulletproof.” He went on to perform the energetic track “When the Smoke Clears” and heightened crowd anticipation by closing his set with the Big Sean-featured “Woopty Doo.”

When the Finally Famous general finally took the stage, he fed off the crowd energy, getting into “I Do It.” The Detroit rapper was dressed in all black, donning his custom Mitchell & Ness snakeskin snapback and gold jewelry. Halfway through the song, the little big man nearly jumped into the audience after spraying them with water.

Before getting into the rest of his set, Sean took a minute to shout out and congratulate fellow ’10 XXL Freshman J. Cole, telling the audience to cop his album, Cole World: The Sideline Story. Getting emotional, Sean implied he could relate to the feeling Cole was having. He revealed he was in tears in the studio recording his mixtape song “Desire, Want and Need” – a song he then performed.

The Detroit MC then launched into his Finally Famous: Vol. 3 mixtape, including “Supa Dupa Lemonade,” “Meant to Be,” and “What U Doin?” before getting deep during “Memories.”

Just when you thought Big couldn’t get anymore animated, he delivered with the last few songs of his set: “High,” “My Last,” and “Dance (Ass)” before closing with “Marvin Gaye & Chardonnay.” To show his appreciation for the turnout, the MC met with fans after the show to sign autographs and take pictures. Judging by the turnout of the show, it’s safe to say Big Sean definitely is finally famous. —Rachelle Jean-Louis
