Nas & Damian Marley Lead Rap Acts on the Charts

Nas and Damian Marley beat out B.o.B. to lead the rap pack on this week’s Billboard 200 sales chart.

Although the duo fell five spots in their second go-round, God’s Son and Bob’s son still managed to land at the No. 10 position. Distant Relatives was purchased 25,200 times this week, making its total figures equal 82,700 after two weeks.

B.o.B picked up the No. 16 position in his fifth week. The Adventures of Bobby Ray added 19,700 to its overall tally, which now sits at 190,200.

Six slots down is the Black Eyed Peas’s 2009 album The E.N.D. Will.i.am, Fergie and company are still pumping out CDs almost a year later—this in their 51st week. With 16,600 units sold in just the last seven days, the group’s complete stats now stand at 2,551,600.

Rounding out the Top 40 is Ludacris’s latest LP, Battle of the Sexes. To-date, the disc moved 429,100 copies, after fans bagged up 11,700 CDs this week.

Check back next week to see where Yukmouth’s new album, Free at Last, lands on the The Billboard 200. —Elan Mancini

Nas such a disappointing rapper. He has the potential to sell like Jay-Z but chooses to put out albums that aren’t commercially marketable. I mean if he wants to put out an album called Nigger and a reggae one there’s no problems with that but he shud do it on the mixtape circuit or some shit. On a commercial level he should be focused on putting out that street shit we all love him for. This man is one of the greatest fuck ups in hip hop.

      ^ ???

Do you really listen to Nas? Because if you did you would know he doesn’t care about commercial success.

That distant relatives is some straight up good positive music. Oh, I almost forgot most hiphop heads that are under 24 like the music dumb down and ignorant. Nas is one of a few true poets left.

I bought about 5 albums last week, and Distant Relatives were one of them; that album is pure fire, from the lyrical material to the production. Nas threw some subliminals at Kelis too on one of them tracks which was pretty dope. That Reflection Eternal album and Fashawn’s album (yeah I know I’m late) also go hard. If you want something different, check out BoB’s album too.

@ Fung: nah, Luda is the most disappointing rapper. He’s like rap’s Vince Carter – tons of potential and very little delivery. Dude got sick flow, solid lyrics, and hot beats. Don’t know why he doesn’t have 2-3 classic albums by now.

Sam, there was nothing shitty about Nas’ last album. It was probably too much for you to handle that’s all.
