DMX Sues Entertainment Company Over Unpaid Royalties

DMX may be heading back to court yet again, but this time he’ll be sitting in the plaintiff’s chair for a change. The troubled rapper is suing a company he claims pocketed close to $1 million that he believes belongs to him.

According to New York’s Daily News, the Yonkers rapper filed the suit against Rick Kid Entertainment on Monday (April 26). X alleges the company took 100-percent of the funds he earned instead of the 10-percent cut they both agreed on.

“DMX has sold over 30 million albums worldwide and has had No. 1 singles and albums on the Billboard charts, which in turn have generated a great amount of revenue for the defendants, but has left [DMX] with nothing,” the suit reads.

Although he has been in business with Rich Kid Entertainment for over a decade, X says he just recently noticed that he was being ripped off.

As previously reported, X is currently behind bars for a probation violation. —Elan Mancini

This is a classic case of an Ignorant rapper. You have been in business for 10 years and never noticed the dude was on the take? Who is responsible for your finacial portfolio X? You are! You as an artist is always supposed to know what’s coming in Exactly down to the penny, and what’s going out. Next thing we will hear is that X is being indicted on Tax evasion or some crap because he has no eartly idea on what is what. ‘C’mon people, wake up! You have to live for the rest of your life (however long that is), stop living for the moment.

All I can say is this…. No one knows the true demons that haunt a man. Those demons can push you to do stupid things and you can lose yourself in that struggle. I don’t make excuses for X. But I am far from quick to judge him. He made a huge impact on hip-hop while obviously being tortured by something…. Many of us aren’t that strong. Some of us work at Safeway or SubWay and succumbed to our demons without the intense light of the spotlight. Money doesn’t cure you. It only intensifies your problems. Not making excuses for X. A loss is a loss. But I am hopeful he will get some help. Anyone can be taken advantage of when they see you’re battling basic survival. Anyone.
