Haiti stand up! Wyclef Jean is currently working on a memoir.

The Associated Press reports that the book will touch on Clef’s early life in Haiti, his rise onto the rap scene with Lauryn Hill and Pras, his successful solo career as a performer, producer and collaborator and his philanthropic contributions later on in life.

The former Fugees frontman has scored a publishing deal with It Books, an imprint of HarperCollins, for the book and he tapped Anthony Bozzo, a music journalist who has works for Rolling Stone magazine, to help him with the writing.

As of press time there is no release date or title for the memoir.

Jean isn’t the only rap artist who recently revealed plans for an autobiography. Fellow '90s rapper Q-Tip of A Tribe Called Quest is working on Industry Rules, to drop on Ballantine Books in late 2010. –Elan Mancini
