Raekwon to Speak on Legacy at NYC Noisemakers Event

For the latest installment of his Noisemakers series, Hot 97 DJ Peter Rosenberg will sit down with famed Wu-Tang rapper Raekwon this Wednesday (July 29) at the 92Y in New York City.

Following in the footsteps of other Hip-Hop luminaries like DJ Premier, Q-Tip and ?uestlove, Rae will divulge with Rosenberg, in front of a live audience, on his life in hip-hop and the stories behind some of his most famed songs. Jazz flavored band The Cypher will also be performing their instrumental spin on The Chef’s music throughout the night.

Tickets to the event, which starts at 8 p.m, cost $15 and can be purchased online at the 92Y’s website here.

As XXLMag.com previously reported Rae is currently prepping the release of Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2, the sequel to his legendary 1995 solo debut. The disc features guest spots from his Wu-Tang brethren Ghostface Killah, Inspetach Deck, Method Man and Masta Killa as well as Beanie Sigel and Jadakiss, among others. Production duties are handled by Rza, Dr. Dre, J Dilla, Marley Marl, The Alchemist, Necro, and more. The LP is slated to hit shelves on September 9.  -Max G

well at least it features good artists and it’s production is impeccable. i think it’s about time somebody put out an album that didn’t have drake or some other nigga in that vein on it. what nyc needs right now is some real street shit i’m sick of all that cotton candy shit that plays on the radio non-stop nowadays. rap music is so saturated with sweetness that i’m surprised it hasn’t died of diabetes. i’m definitely checking for this cd when it drops, i played “only built 4 cuban linx” until the cd stopped working

dats cool. shit, i wanna hear how Rae feels about the current state of the hip hop game now, too. even though thats more my older brothers generation of hip hop, you know the ‘real hip hop heads’.

@ Brooklyn – ya’ll don’t fux with Maino? i heard a couple trax of If Tomorrow Comes… & i liked what i heard. i think he’s the closest to that real street shit (talking about the ‘newcomers’ to the game) coming out of NYC. i’m surprised he’s not getting showed more love. if you haven’t, you should check him out.
