Ol’ Dirty Bastard Offshoot Group Brooklyn Zu To Release Album

With his antics, his anthems, and his unique personality, Ol’ Dirty Bastard is hard to forget. But the Wu-Tang Clan rapper passed four years ago and now his former side crew, Brooklyn Zu, is stepping up to honor the late lyricist.

The collective is scheduled to release Chapter #9 Verse 32 on July 1. The project will also be complimented by a DVD documentary titled “ODB Ason Unique,” which is an in-the-works look at the life of the charismatic star directed by his bother Raison Allah.

Wu brethren expected to appear on Chapter #9 Verse 32 include the RZA, the GZA, Killa Priest, among others.

“I love the Zu and what they are doing, that’s why I am a part of this,” Method Man said in a statement. “I love Ol’ Dirty, the Zoo Keeper, you already know what it is!”

Tracks scheduled to appear on the project are “If I Had A Gun,” “Knock Knock,” and “Put Yo’ Peoples On.”

Brooklyn Zu is headed by remaining members Buddha Monk, and four of ODB’s younger brothers, 12 O’Clock, Shorty Shitstain, Murdoc, and The Zoo Keeper.

ODB suddenly passed of heart failure in November 2004, just two days shy of his 36th birthday. He was a founding member of the Wu-Tang Clan and the day before he passed, the rapper was scheduled to appear with the group at a New Jersey show. The Wu recorded a tribute song for ODB on their last project, 8 Diagrams, titled “Life Changes.”

Brooklyn Zu will head off on a promotional tour beginning June 24 in Buffalo, New York. —Jayson Rodriguez
