Disturbing Tha Peace Inks New Long-Term Deal with Def Jam

Disturbing Tha Peace Records, the Atlanta-born imprint founded by Ludacris, has inked a new long term agreement with parent company Island Def Jam. Although details about the new partnership have not been revealed, the announcement puts to rest recent rumors about the label being dropped from the Def Jam roster. “The Atlanta hip-hop scene and the Dirty South movement in general owe more than they can ever repay to Chris,” Def Jam chairman L.A. Reid said in a statement. “Our friendship stretches back more than a decade and I never cease to be amazed at his imagination, creativity, and most of all his outrageous sense of humor. Now, changing business conditions necessitate that we review our respective rosters and focus to ensure that future opportunities and challenges are aggressively achieved. Ludacris has built Disturbing Tha Peace into one of the iconic names in hip-hop, one that will remain an important part of the Island Def Jam family.” DTP is currently headed by Luda and his partners Chaka Zulu and Jeff Dixon.

Yo, that is corporate talk saying that they are keeping those artists who will continue to make money. Sounds pretty shitty coming from a record label where artistry should be the main priority, not making dollars.

Who besides Luda is anybody checking for ? Bobby valentino got a couple of hits but he was to busy crying about Ne-yo getting special attention then him when Ne-yo is a better artist and he kept his name out there by writing for everyone from Beyonce’ to Mary J blige. I hope DTP starts signing more artist’s and actually releasing them.

I have to respectfully disagree with you regarding Bobby V not being a viable artist on DTP. I have to say that his last album was definitely filled with hits. Unfortunately there wasn’t any label backing as far as marketing is concerned. Im not really big on todays RnB but his album was a good record from beginning to end. I have to say as far as RnB acts on DTP are concerned he held his own. I don’t know about sales wise but as far as musically; it was a nice album.

DTP needs to sign Youngbloodz cause they are some drinking and getting buck type fools. They just need better beats and promotion. Those dudes disturb the peace on a daily basis. For real tho, make a DTP album that has more than two good songs on it.
