Quick News on Black Thought, GZA and Spider Loc

black-thought.jpgAccording to the Philadelphia Daily News, The Roots lead MC, Black Thought, will star in an upcoming independent film, Explicit Ills, with acclaimed actor Rosario Dawson. The movie, which explores the effects of drugs and poverty, will start shooting in North Philadelphia this week.

G-Unit’s Spider Loc will make a guest appearance on the popular Showtime series, Weeds. Loc will play as a character named 2-Strikes on the Monday, September 24 episode. The G-Unit Crip will also release his upcoming album, West Kept Secret: The Prequel, on September 11 through RBR/KOCH Records.

In other news, the Wu-Tang Clan’s GZA will perform his classic album, Liquid Swords, in its entirety on September 15 at the McCarren Park Pool in Brooklyn, New York. Liquid Swords was released in 1995 and featured classic tracks such as “Cold World,” “4th Chamber” and “Shadowboxin’.” This is the first time GZA will perform the entire LP during a live show.
