A number of rappers, such as Lil Wayne, Ghostface Killah, Busta Rhymes, Snoop Dogg and Cee-Lo have signed on to voice guest characters for the new season. The Boondocks, which originated as a popular nationwide comic strip, follows the adventures of 10 year-old revolutionary Huey, his 8-year-old brother, Riley, and their grandfather and guardian, Robert “Granddad” Freeman. In 2005, the series received an NAACP Image Awards nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series. Earlier this year, an episode entitled “Return of the King,” in which Dr. Martin Luther King awakes from a coma in the present day, was honored with a prestigious Peabody Award.
