jadakiss.jpgYonkers born rapper Jadakiss and two associates will go to trial in Westchester County, NY over weapons possession charges they picked up in October 2006 in their hometown of Yonkers. Kiss and friends Darnell Frazier and Kristian Smith were charged with third degree criminal possession of a weapon after Yonkers police stopped a car they were riding in. After claiming they smelled marijuana, police searched the vehicle and discovered a handgun. According to The Journal News, prosecutors have decided to move forward with the case, even though DNA tests performed on the weapon revealed that three different men had handled it. A fourth occupant of the vehicle, which belonged to Frazier’s girlfriend, testified before a grand jury and was not indicted. "He had no knowledge of the gun in the car," said Jada’s lawyer, Clement Patti. "They're saying that there's a presumption [of possession]...but with no fingerprints, [other people’s] DNA, in the interest of justice they should dismiss the charges." The case is currently scheduled for trial assignment.
