eminem.jpgEminem recently donated an undisclosed sum to help launch the Hip-Hop 4 Habitat program through his Marshall Mathers Foundation. According to The Detroit News, the program seeks to raise $75,000 in order to construct an 1,100 square foot home for a disadvantage family near Mack Ave. and Lakepointe St. on Detroit’s east side. Fellow Detroit rapper Trick Trick has promised to assist with the construction of the home, and will perform for fellow volunteers when construction has been completed. "Hip Hop 4 Habitat is meant to be a positive project and a way for the hip-hop community to come together and support a family in need,” said Alyce Hartman of non-profit organization A Prophetic Generation. "We're so thankful Trick and Eminem are leading this effort." Hartman’s organization partnered with Habitat for Humanity Detroit and Em’s foundation for the project. Hip-Hop 4 Habitat is seeking citizen volunteers and members of the Detroit hip-hop community to participate project. Prospective volunteers can contact Habitat for Humanity Detroit at (313) 521-6691 for more information.
