kamaflaj.jpgRapper Kamaflaj, a Philadelphia native, is being hailed as a hero after he broke through a neighbor’s door and extinguished a fire in their apartment. According to the York Dispatch the underground rapper was inside his second floor apartment with his girlfriend and two children when he smelled smoke. When the smell started to get worse and the smoke detector ringing, Kamaflaj ran down to the first floor apartment, but nobody was home so he kicked the door in and tried to locate the fire. Once inside he found a pile of clothing burning on the bathroom floor. "It was glowing, the whole bathroom was glowing. I found a Kool-Aid pitcher and filled it up in the tub," he said. "I had to [act fast.] There was no time to waste, with my kids [inside.]" Because of his quick thinking, nobody was seriously injured, although his girlfriend and residents from the third floor were treated on the scene for smoke inhalation. York City Assistant Fire Chief Richard Saylo told the Dispatch that the fire was mostly extinguished when they arrived on the scene and credited the rapper with saving the building. "We would have had a major fire," Saylor said. "He saved a lot of damage. [Neighbors] ought to be thankful for him." According to the web site for Sowa Entertainment, Kamaflaj’s record label, he has been rapping since the late 1980’s and has opened up for notable acts such as the Notorious B.I.G., Wu-Tang Clan and Doug E. Fresh.
