Asylum Records, a division of Warner Music Group, recently announced a partnership with the Atlanta-based Aphilliates Music Group. Founded in 2003 by DJ Drama, DJ Sense and Don Cannon, the Aphilliates Music Group is comprised of a number of mixtape and artist affiliated DJs. Under the new agreement, Asylum will provide marketing, sales and distribution support to the Aphilliates roster of artists, which includes Michigan native Willie The Kid. Asylum has enjoyed continued success on the charts over the last couple of years, and the label saw four of their artists, including Mike Jones and Paul Wall, debut in the Billboard Top 10 in 2005. Todd Moscowitz, Asylum’s President, commented, “Under the leadership of Drama and his partners, Aphilliates has emerged as an innovative and successful independent hip-hop label. We look forward to combining our expertise in independent sales, marketing and distribution to help support and develop these talented entrepreneurs and their roster of DJs and artists.”
