Young City from Making The Band 2 Arrested for Armed Robbery

youngcity.jpgYoung City, also known as Choppa from MTV’s Making The Band 2, has been arrested and detained on an outstanding warrant for armed robbery. Choppa, whose real name is Kevin Barnes, was stopped for speeding in a Gwinnett County suburb of Atlanta last month (July 31) and was arrested when police discovered the unresolved warrant stemming from an alleged incident in Baltimore. The former Bad Boy South artist reportedly lived in Baltimore as a teen to escape the violent streets of his hometown of New Orleans. Considered a flight risk by authorities, Barnes is currently being held in a Gwinnett County Jail without bond, while he awaits extradition to Maryland. The rapper fled New Orleans for Atlanta in the wake of Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

    I was in a holding cell with him wednesday in gwinnett and he told me that him and his buddy were fucking around with an air pistol shooting cans and stuff and his friend said “hey watch me scare this motherfucker” and pulled it out on some white dude. the cops showed up after his friend was gone and he got stuck with the charge. posted 10,000 bond and left town and never heard anything about it again until he was picked up for this warrant. he was pretty convincing to me that he was innocent, and skipping out on bond cant be held against him since he was a juvenile at the time.
