diddy.jpgHip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs told MTV on Monday (May 8) that he will be reprising his role from his Broadway debut Raisin in the Sun in an upcoming film adaptation of the classic Lorraine Hansberry play. “I’m going to do it differently than anybody can expect me to do it,” Diddy said of his role, which was played by Sydney Poitier in the 1961 film adaptation. “I’m going to get raw and ready, do some hard work for this. I’m really stripping myself down. I’m moving out of my house and into a studio apartment, and I’m not going to have a Blackberry or a cell phone.”

Kenny Leon, the director of the Broadway production, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution yesterday (May 9) that he will also be directing the film adaptation, which will start taping in October and will air as a three-hour Sunday night TV movie on the ABC network.
