Ice Cube Set to Star In And Produce Welcome Back Kotter Adaptation

icecube.jpgVariety reported that Ice Cube has signed on to star in and produce Dimension Films’ big screen adaptation of the ’70s sitcom Welcome Back Kotter. Cube will take on the role of Gabe Kotter, the teacher who returns to his inner-city school to teach valuable lessons to the next generation of rabble-rousing misfits. The original made a star out of John Travolta, who played the wisecracking leader of a troublemaking crew of students called the Sweathogs. Tom Brady, writer of The Hot Chick and The Animal, is expected to write and direct the film.

    Cube I love you man (no homo), but this is a no-no! We gotta stop re-doing these white shows. And yeah I know there was an african american and a latino on the show. (and yeah a jewish dude0), but that’s not why I say this. The show was good for it’s time and should stay there. I consider it a white show cuz the main character was white, the most popular person on the show was white and it was put together by white people. All the other characters on the show were stereo type actors. And plus I’m sick of 70′s movies and shows being done over. The last white movie to be done over by african americans was stupid. I like the white movie better. The movie was with nick cannon and I forgot what they renamed it but it was from the 80′s movie Cant buy me love.
