Skinnyfromthe9 Lets “Love Blast” in New Video
With over 3 million streams on SoundCloud, Skinnyfromthe9's song "Love Blast" has become a viral hit. Now, four months after the song's release, the New Jersey-bred rapper drops the visual for the track.
Directed by Xjazzbo, the "Love Blast" video finds Skinnyfromthe9 riding his bike through a grassy field as he deals with an angry lover. "She says she loves, but I know she don't/’Cause I got bands, I got bands," Skinny raps in the video. The trippy visual ends with the rapper riding away after a fight with his lady.
With all its extravagant imagery, Skinny's latest visual is a little off the hinges—which is exactly what he was going for. “I wanted something crazy so people can rewatch it," Skinny tells XXL of the the video, which was directed, shot and edited by Upstate Groove Production's Xjazzbo in just two days. "We freestyled the whole video. No treatment.”
With the success of "Love Blast" at his back, Skinny's using the rest of 2018 to extend his glow up. Next up on his priority list is dropping an unreleased fan favorite.
“Dropping ‘Back When I Was Broke’ my fans are dying for it and I’m about to show the world who Skinnyfromthe9 is," Skinny reveals. "After that I’m dropping hit after hit with crazy visuals.”
Unloading new visuals will be yet another step in Skinny's journey toward next level of stardom. Speaking with XXL this past March, Skinny revealed his lofty ambitions.
“I want to take over; I want everybody to know who I am," he said at the time. "I want my music to top the charts, I wanna be on tour, and I want to be a huge inspiration to kids who felt like they were neglected when they had a dream, no matter what it was."
Skinnyfromthe9 will have a chance to let everyone know who he is when he competes for a spot on the 2018 XXL Freshman cover. According to the rapper, he deserves a spot on the list because of his grind. "I ain't never really had no major help, no major budgets, no label—I'm independent," he shared.
