Lil Yachty has been owning the Internet as of late with his obsession for sailing and everyone just can't seem to get enough of his ever-popular nickname, "Lil Boat," which also serves as the title of his debut mixtape.

The rapper, who's also part of the 2016 XXL Freshman class, has taken a sport totally unfamiliar to the hip-hop world and seemingly made it a center focus over the last few months. So, XXL thought, "Why not take Yachty sailing?" That way the culture can become a little more familiar with the activity and it may spark up more interest within the community. But, what we didn't know was that it was actually Lil Boat's first time sailing too.

The XXL team and Yachty set up shop in New Rochelle, N.Y. at Port Sailing School. Captain Dave, Yachty's instructor for the day and the guy who is responsible for the rapper's now superb sailing skills, got the rapper out on the water and it was quite eventful to say the least.

From learning the meaning behind the term "Haul Away" to handling the mainsheet used to control the mainsail, Yachty had an educational afternoon on the water and walked away a pro. But, it wasn't as easy as that sounds. There were quite a few hilarious mishaps on the way and pirates even came after the rapper's Fruit Loops. By the end of the trip, Captain Dave and Yachty had survived an afternoon on the raging New Rochelle waters and bonded more than anyone expected.

Watch XXL take Lil Yachty sailing above and you might learn a little something along the way.
