Uncle Murda Signs to Sony/Epic, Tweets New York DJ Kay Slay

It appears Uncle Murda has found a new label home.

DJ Kay Slay took to Twitter Tuesday (February 28) to announce that fellow New Yorker, Uncle Murda signed with Sony/Epic. Murda, whose real name is Leonard Grant, has been trying to find a home since leaving Def Jam.

“Congrats to @UncleMurda we celebrating his new deal signing at Sony/Epic!!! Sue Rendezvous tonite!” tweeted The Drama King.

The East New York rapper, had original grabbed the attention of Jay-Z in 2007 and was briefly signed to Def Jam during Hov’s tenure as president. He was featured on the New York anthem; “Brooklyn” with Jay-Z off Fabolous’s From Nothin’ To Somethin’ during his time at Def Jam but left in late 2008 after Carter’s term in office was up. “Things didn’t work out over there once Jay-Z left it was like you know, they didn’t really know what to do with Uncle Murda after that,” said Unc in an interview with VladTv in 2008.

But recently, Uncle Murda has been making significant noise related to his music. His song “Warning” from 2011 received a New York style remix and featured many rappers from the five boroughs.
