Twista’s Top 10 Fastest Verses
When you think of some of the fastest rappers in the game, Twista has to be towards the top of that list. The Chi-Town "Choppa Style" legend has been at it for well over two decades, and is still going strong, as evidenced by him dropping a seven-track EP entitled Back To The Basics in December 2013. In recognition of the upcoming 10 year anniversary of Twista's most successful album to date, Kamikaze, let's take a look at some of Twista's fastest verses.—Marvin J.
"Slow Jamz"
Album: Kamikaze (2004)
Number Of Words: 286
We'll start this list off with Twista's most popular song, and his only No. 1 single to date. You know you're about to get a tongue-twisting verse when you hear Kanye say to former Talk Soup host Aisha Tyler: "Damn baby; I can't do it that fast, but I know somebody who can, Twista!" Twista proceeds to wreck the mic in a way only he can, beautifully pairing rapid fire delivery with dizzying production from Kanye West.
"Mista Tung Twista" (1st Verse)
Album: Runnin Off At Da Mouth (1992)
Number Of Words:: 494
Back in 1992, the rapper then known as Tung Twista dropped his debut album Runnin Off At Da Mouth, and this song was the lead single, released not too long before Twista became the Guinness World Record holder for fastest MC on the planet. Even though this verse, the first verse of the song, is longer than your standard 16 bars, being able to rap 494 words in roughly a minute is a feat that is absolutely mind boggling.
"Neva Eva" (Remix)
Album: The King of Crunk & BME Recordings Present: Trillville (Trillville) (2003)
Number Of Words:: 194
Trillville had a couple hits back in the day. Twista blessed the mic on the "Neva Eva" remix, a nice addition to an already rambunctious track.
"Worldwide Choppas"
Album: All 6s and 7s (2011)
Number Of Words:: 249
99 percent of the time, Twista is the fastest rapper on any track he hops on. This track may be the one percent. Twista hops on Tech N9ne's jam packed track with a ferocious verse.
"Spit Your Game"
Album: Duets: The Final Chapter (2005)
Number Of Words:: 243
On this remake of a classic song by Biggie and Bone Thugz and Harmony, Twista hops on the track for yet another lightning quick verse. Usually, remakes don't live up to the quality of the original song. This song is definitely an exception.
"Cocoa Butter Kisses"
Album: Acid Rap (2013)
Number Of Words:: 227
The new school and old school of the Chi-Town rap scene join forces on this track, with Twista running the anchor leg of the track with the last verse.
"Welcome To My Hood" (Remix)
Album: We The Best Forever (2011)
Number Of Words:: 154
Don't let the amount of words on this song compared to the other songs on this list fool you. This was a quick 16 on some fast production, making Twista's signature double time flow even more impressive.
"From Da Tip Of My Tongue" (1st Verse)
Album: Runnin Off At Da Mouth (1992)
Number Of Words:: 119
This is arguably the fastest Twista verse ever recorded, and thats saying something. This is an 8 bar, 18 second verse. 119 words, in 18 seconds. Let that sink in. Just for fun, try and see how many words you can rap in 18 seconds.
"Talk To Me"
Album: Category F5 (2009)
Number Of Words:: 272
An often forgotten album cut, Twista reminds us that he's still a G at the end of the day, with bars like: "Yeah you got a white but ima be turning that motherfu**a burgundy". And as always, killing the microphone with his speedy flow.
"Ferocious"
Album: Back To The Basics (2013)
Number Of Words:: 243
Last but not least, "Ferocious" is one of the singles off of his latest project, Back To The Basics. Twista's quicksilver flow matches the live violinist's rhythm, making for a super fun track.
