Name: The name is Nitty Scott, MC. I’m also known as The Beautiful Beast. I represent the Boombox Family, which is an organic, lyrical, message-driven hip-hop movement. I chose the name because I wanted to symbolize art and culture over simply being “a rapper”.
Age: I actually just turned 21. It was cool rocking venues I wasn’t even allowed into. But, those days are over now. Ha.
Reppin’: I’m a hip-hop gypsy from all types of places. I was born in Michigan, raised in Florida and paid in New York. I definitely rep where I step now though, and that’s the boro of Brooklyn.
I started rapping: I started rapping when I was 14 years old. I went to art school as a creative writing major, so I started off with poetry and formal writing. Then one day I decided to make the transition from a writer to a musician, and actually put words on top of instrumentals. Nitty Scott, MC was born that day.
My style and/or skills have been compared to: I’ve been compared to MC Lyte, Lauryn Hill, Ladybug Mecca, Big Pun. It’s an honor to even be discussed with artists of that caliber, but in all honesty I’m not looking to execute anybody else’s formula; I’m just being myself, in every way.
My standout records and/or moments have been: I would say my standout moments so far have been the day my 3-minute “Monster” freestyle starting buzzing on the net, and my appearance on the 2011 BET Hip-Hop Awards Cypher. It’s kinda ironic how both of those happened almost exactly a year apart; there’s something about October.
I’m gonna change the game by: I’m gonna change the game by being a barrier-breaker. I plan on overcoming stigmas and paving roads for independent artists, young adults, minorities and women in hip-hop.
I’d Like to Work With: I’d like to work with Andre 3000, Jill Scott and The Neptunes. Those are dream collaborations. I’d also like to get down with the new school cats that I feel have a similar cause, such as Black Hippy, Joell Ortiz and Action Bronson.
My goal in hip-hop is: To preserve and progress hip-hop culture at the same time. I want to help bring a sense of balance to the game, and just demonstrate a different lane and example of success.
I’m gonna be the next: I’m gonna be the next Nitty Scott, MC. Point, blank, period.

Nitty Scott, MC is a blessing for which I give Danks & Praise every day. The inner beauty, soul, and wisdom emanating from her spirit are tangible, even only in 2D. It takes a brave & brilliant type of goddess to make yourself in the way Nitty has in such a short amount of time, and she is a living testament to the fact that if you really believe not just in your skills (as unfortunately, rhyming these days has become so stale in hip hop our former prophets can now only talk about profits), but more importantly, knowing & respecting the power of the blessings youve been given, you really can positively enhance the lives of those you have never even met. Think of the possibilities. Nitty Scott did that for me, and I am forever grateful.
