From Louisville, Nick Vibes is making a name for himself. The artists has penned songs for some of music heavyweights and now is bringing the spotlight on himself. Born, Nick Vibbert, Vibes has been cultivating his sound and he's ready to bring that to everyone in the world. In 2004, Vibes got his big break in the industry when he was introduced to producer-director Andre Greene.

“It wasn’t until I met Andre back in late 2004 that I got serious about music,” said Vibes in a previous interview. “I was working with some youth at a church at the time and helping some inner city youth out, and I heard this guy was a great producer and artist and he had heard of me and we just connected the dots.”

Now Nick is only supplying the good vibes. "I have a few new songs that I will release over the next few months that will most likely be part of my project, Good Vibes Only," Vibes said to XXL while in NYC. "I released my first single "Black Girlz" on SoundCloud last month, which will be included on the album."

Name: Nick Vibes

Age: 31

Hometown: Louisville

I grew up listening to: "Music has always played such a large part of my life. To me, music is that thing that makes my heart beat and makes me come alive. I didn’t always plan to become an artist, but I knew I wanted to do something in the industry.

It was a passion that I had neglected for a long time but was rediscovered when I was 20, almost a decade ago. In 2005, I introduced a friend of mine who I saw had great potential to music producer, Andre Green. That night, I pulled out a verse I had in my pocket and everyone in the studio at the time went crazy. Since that moment, I haven’t stopped. While working 12 hours a day/6 days a week, I was also always writing music and would hit the studio at night.

Friends, family and music industry influencers always told me that they hear in my music that I have something to say and I have a very unique talent. While I was working with the late, Static Major, he told me that I have something special but need to get out of here where there isn’t much of a music industry – 'sometimes a profit is only without honor in his own town.'

One of favorite albums is Playa's Cheers 2 U album by Static. The album is an amazing body of work created by some of the top influencers in the industry. I’m actually currently working on a song with one of the master minds behind the album, Smokey."

My style has been compared to: "Honestly, overall my style is very unique; there isn't any one artist or sound I can compare it to. I use a multidimensional approach to fusing R&B melodies with contemporary bars. If I had to choose, a few of my piers have mentioned, Ludacris, JT and a touch of Static Major.

I was self-taught. I started writing my own lyrics when I was in high school. In 2006, I was drawn to the music created by the late Grammy Award-winning songwriter Static Major. I wanted to hear more and learn more from him so I became his apprentice. He encouraged me to focus on my own style and shortly after I began cultivating my own sound."

Something people don’t know about me: "A part from music, the artist in me flows to the different spaces. I’m entrepreneur and creator; I express myself through my love of fashion and décor. And as part of my yearning to create a difference in the world, I have founded an organization that serves special needs children and adults."

Standout record or moment to date: "Over the past 11 years, I’ve been working to create my own style of music as well working with artists including Bryson Tiller to do the same. This year, I started releasing my own music.

A standout moment in my life to date has to be when I met my idol, Muhammad Ali. I was sitting at a Cuban restaurant in Louisville and I saw someone pushing a man in a wheel chair through the door, I immediately knew it was Muhammad Ali. His legacy has always run deep with me and I felt honored to be in his presence and didn’t need more from him, so I stayed at my table and anonymously paid for his and his family’s meal. His family was grateful and asked the waitress to introduce them to the person who did this. When she relayed the message, I felt so nervous to speak to him but was also humbled by the situation. I went over and sat with him and his family and that was the moment I had the opportunity to speak with the man that has inspired me for so many years through his strength and perseverance. Even in his state, I felt like I was in the presence of greatness. To me, that was God saying, the stars are aligning."

My goal in hip-hop is: "In short if I had to encapsulate the main goal, it would be to impact culture and influence the world through music that’s timely but also timeless. I'm a visionary and entrepreneur, and love to inspire people – I want to portray that through my music and GVO."

I’m the next: "Let me rephrase, I’m going to be the first. I have the Muhammad Ali mindset; I want to shake shit up. A lot of people are trying to become the next and trend set, I’m trying to be the first and transcend. As an artist, I believe you can choose to be an addition or to be an alternative. I’m an anomaly, a highbred type of individual. I’ve never cared about fitting in, and my goal is to create and share unique music that I can inspire and touch the world with."
