The Break Presents: Sene
Also Check Out: “Backboards”
Name: Brian “Sene” Marc
Where I’m From: Brooklyn, New York (Sheepshead Bay – Southern Brooklyn)
I’ve been rapping since: My first rap was when I was eight. But in the sense of recording and creating songs, I started at 14.
My style or skills have been compared to: Mos Def, Common, Jay Electronica.
My standout records/moments have been: A Day Late & A Dollar was my debut album that let people know I was really putting together complete bodies of work. Then my song “exit,us.” kind of blew the doors open. “Piranhas” on 9th Wonder’s album The Wonder Years. “Backboards” ft. Blu is a current track that’s circulating, along with my current project Brooklyknight. The last live performance at SOB’s. To have that many people screaming all the words to complex verses in my home town was special.
I’m gonna change the game by: By staying true to my ear, and letting everything else just pass right through.
I’d Like to Work With: In the future, I would like to work with Shafiq Husayn, Om’mas Keith, Corinne Bailey Rae, Adele, Mark Ronson, OH NO!, Marilyn Manson, Anthony Kiedis.
My Goal in Hip-Hop is: To make music that’s true to its roots, but not limited to its roots. Incorporating new sounds.
I’m gonna be the next: Me.
