Royce 5'9" season is in full effect. That much becomes clear when you listen to "Stay Woke," a free-wheeling new track from the Detroit rapper.

Spitting over a violin-laced instrumental, Royce, who just unloaded his PRhyme 2 album along with DJ Premier last month, spits about maintaining sobriety, gun-clutching and the decaying of a rich hip-hop culture. With a super steady flow and a string of impeccably tight rhyme schemes, Royce makes rapping look as easy as tying your shoes.

"Now you see what the lord doing/Ripping pages out the book, had to make the story fluent/Thanks to Marshall I'm sober, doing what I enjoy doing," he spits on one part of the track.

Without a hook breaking up the bars, we're treated to a stream-of-consciousness rhyme session from Royce, who continues going in for over three minutes.

"Fuck with my commas, shit will be quick/Got what's in my pocket out of the dirt—filthy rich/I stuck to my promise to mama, stay focused/Double entendre, I'm tryna vocally smoke you, you will be missed," he spits in another part of the track.

"Stay Woke" is an offering from Book of Ryan, which will be the next album from Royce 5'9." It should be dope. Stay woke.
