David Banner is looking to take the subject matter of his God Box lecture series and inject it into his music. In recent years, the Mississippi rapper has felt more freedom to address the social and political issues that concern him in his work. That is exactly what the Crooked Lettaz member employs on his new track "Amy" featuring Trinidad James.

This song from the upcoming God Box LP examines the use of the n-word and its evolution into a term of endearment in the black community. David Banner questions the implementation of the word while letting his people know that they are gods.

"Rappers call you n---a/We down on one knee/But Jesus look like you/Jesus look like me/Michelangelo lied/Here to set the folks free," David Banner raps on the opening verse.

The song has some hard-knocking production and maintains a catchy chorus that should make this one come across like a banger you'll hear on the radio. But David Banner wants to speak on a heartfelt and important topic for those who are listening closely to this record.

"Amy" is the latest leak from David Banner's The God Box, which has gone through its fair share of delays. Those hoping to hear the project soon are out of luck as it will be going through yet another delay. The LP was set to drop this month, but it has now been pushed back to a Aug. 19 release date. In the meantime, fans can the preview mixtape Before The Box that dropped in March.
