Lupe Fiasco is always one to drop knowledge on wax and today (Mar. 1), he's back at it again, rapping on the new track "Bones." Lupe borrows the beat from SZA's 2014 single "Babylon" off her third EP, Z. The first lady of TDE naturally had a much more melodic approach to the song two years ago, but Lupe's bars breathe new life, making it a formidable conscious banger.

Though his flow is laid back, Lupe's bars pack a punch, driving home the message that because of reality TV and social media, women today are too obsessed with perfecting their image. "You gon break your back trying to be like these televised hoes that you see on TV/ Tryin' to keep up with the magazine cover / Living unreal lives that they heard on CD's / Fake ass, fake face, fake titties, that's great shape / That don't make sense / Let's make pace / That's real full / Of saying fake grace."

Lupe Fiasco has sent his fans on an emotional rollercoaster in the last few months. The Chicago MC who brought us classics like Food & Liquor announced in December of 2015 that he would be dropping The Cool 2 come 2017. Then, days later, Lupe declared in a series of tweets that he would be dropping three more albums, named Drogas, Skulls and Roy in 2016 before peacing out of the rap game once and for all. Fiasco dropped two strong projects in 2015, the album Tetsuo and Youth in January and a mixtape called Pharaoh Height 2/30 in August. Could "Bones" be the first single off one of his three upcoming LPs?
